I have listened and learned myself about debt payoff. I am a nurse case manger and am a middle class worker. I have only been on my job for 5 years and am 47 years old. I am recently separated and now figuring and learning how to survive on one salary I’m a two income society. How do people like me begin to move towards financial happiness let alone freedom when we are just barely making it to the next payday.
Thank you so much for tuning in! First off I’m so sorry to hear that you’re going through such a difficult time. Trust that with time it’ll get better. As far as your financial situation let’s look at it just like in nursing, whenever we’re presented with a problem the first them we do is assess. So assess your finances and figure what areas need improving. Where can you cut back, where can you downgrade, what areas of you life have changed since you’re now separated? Next figure out what you owe as far as debt. Then you can move on to developing a plan to dig your way out. When in financial trouble there are only 2 things you can do to get in a better situation: decrease your expenses and earn more money. Being a nurse you have a unique opportunity to make extra cash, now it will require you to sacrifice some of your time. Or you can find a side hustle, some skill or talent you possess that you can monetize. It’s time to get creative. Now comes the intervention stage, after developing a plan its time to put that plan into action. Then evaluate if what you’re doing is actually working. If not, that when you change your plan. I know this is a really basic response but you can totally do this. There’s no better time than now to start to put the pieces of your life back together. You’ll come out stronger, wiser and a little richer. I know you can do it! And I’m here to help you in any way I can.
